"Saving the life of one dog may not change the world,
but the world will surely change for that one dog"
In previous years, the Western Washington Weimaraner Club had an active and successful Rescue Program. Our club members worked as a team to find and place weimaraners in the best homes.
Weimaraners in need of adoptive homes can be any age--untrained puppies, young juveniles, or mature, older dogs. The dogs that come through our program have a temperament evaluation before being placed in a new home.
Prospective homes were carefully screened to select the proper homes to suit a particular dogs needs. We were looking for permanence and stability in the new home. It is unfair to the dog to adjust to multiple home situations. We placed the dog's needs first in selecting adoptive homes.
They accepted a Weimaraner for adoption for whatever reason they were given up. They tried to get as much information and documentation about their previous life as possible in order to allow for a smoother transition. Please contact us if you know of a Weimaraner in need of adoption.
The information on our Breeder Referral page about life with a Weimaraner is particularly helpful if you are wanting to bring a Weimaraner into your family. They are a high energy dog that needs a lot of attention and daily exercise. They are not for everybody.
